{"id":6817,"date":"2024-01-12T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-12T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theequinenutritionist.com\/?p=6817"},"modified":"2025-07-27T13:50:28","modified_gmt":"2025-07-27T13:50:28","slug":"structure-des-sols-et-qualite-des-patures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theequinenutritionist.com\/en\/2024\/01\/12\/structure-des-sols-et-qualite-des-patures\/","title":{"rendered":"Soil structure and pasture quality"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"6817\" class=\"elementor elementor-6817\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eae19dd e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"eae19dd\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-62e964ec elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"62e964ec\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><\/p><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FORMATION DES SOLS<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La formation des sols est un processus long et multifactoriel qui consiste en une d\u00e9gradation de la roche et une d\u00e9composition organique.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La roche, \u00e9galement appel\u00e9e mat\u00e9riau parental, est d\u00e9compos\u00e9e par l&rsquo;\u00e9rosion, qui peut \u00eatre physique, chimique ou biologique (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La formation du sol est affect\u00e9e par :<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">le mat\u00e9riau parental qui cr\u00e9e la base min\u00e9rale du sol et affecte ses propri\u00e9t\u00e9s,<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">les organismes vivants qui affectent l&rsquo;alt\u00e9ration et la mati\u00e8re organique,<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">le climat qui affecte l&rsquo;alt\u00e9ration car les pluies dissolvent certains mat\u00e9riaux parentaux et en maintiennent d&rsquo;autres en suspension,<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">le gel car la glace brise les roches&#8230;<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La d\u00e9composition organique est \u00e9galement plus rapide que la d\u00e9composition physique. De plus, la d\u00e9composition organique est plus rapide par temps humide et chaud. La topographie affecte le d\u00e9p\u00f4t et l&rsquo;\u00e9rosion, car avec la pente, le drainage est accru, limitant l&rsquo;effet des pr\u00e9cipitations, modifiant le type de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, et limitant les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts: sols moins profonds sur les collines car les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts s&rsquo;enfoncent, sols plus profonds et plus fertiles dans les vall\u00e9es car ils b\u00e9n\u00e9ficieront des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts (alluviaux, colluviaux ou \u00e9oliens), et le temps affecte les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s du sol car il joue un r\u00f4le dans l&rsquo;alt\u00e9ration et le d\u00e9p\u00f4t organique (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les horizons du sol sont les couches de mati\u00e8res diff\u00e9rentes que l&rsquo;on peut trouver dans une coupe transversale du sol. Ces diff\u00e9rentes couches, qui forment le profil du sol, sont souvent compos\u00e9es d&rsquo;un horizon de surface compos\u00e9 de liti\u00e8re v\u00e9g\u00e9tale, sous lequel se trouve un horizon compos\u00e9 de terre v\u00e9g\u00e9tale humif\u00e8re, avec une composition organique et une disponibilit\u00e9 en \u00e9l\u00e9ments nutritifs \u00e9lev\u00e9es, h\u00e9bergeant une activit\u00e9 biologique importante. Ensuite, un sous-sol compos\u00e9 d&rsquo;argile ou de sable, r\u00e9sultant de l&rsquo;alt\u00e9ration du mat\u00e9riau parental. Et l&rsquo;horizon plus profond, compos\u00e9 de roches alt\u00e9r\u00e9es (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Une classification des sols est ensuite r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de ces profils, pour trier les sols selon leur composition (limon, sable, argile) (Minnesota pollution control agency, 2023). La classification est ensuite utilis\u00e9e, en corr\u00e9lation avec les cartes de relief, pour cr\u00e9er des cartes de sols (Minasny et al., 2014).<\/p><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TEXTURE DU SOL<\/h3><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La texture du sol est d\u00e9termin\u00e9e par la composition min\u00e9rale d&rsquo;un \u00e9chantillon de sol. Elle est d\u00e9finie par la quantit\u00e9 de sable, d&rsquo;argile et de limon dans le sol, la quantit\u00e9 de chaque composant pouvant s&rsquo;ajouter pour cr\u00e9er diff\u00e9rents types de textures de sol (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La texture du sol d\u00e9termine sa fertilit\u00e9 et sa capacit\u00e9 de r\u00e9tention d&rsquo;eau. En outre, selon le profil du sol, on peut trouver diff\u00e9rentes textures de sol, uniformes, contrast\u00e9es ou graduelles (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La texture du sol peut \u00eatre d\u00e9termin\u00e9e par diff\u00e9rents protocoles. Les protocoles \u00ab\u00a0maison\u00a0\u00bb comprennent la m\u00e9thode du bocal, qui est assez pr\u00e9cise et consiste \u00e0 remplir 1 \u2044 3 d&rsquo;un bocal avec de la terre d\u00e9barrass\u00e9e de tous les d\u00e9bris, roches ou mati\u00e8res organiques de grande taille, ajouter de l&rsquo;eau jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 1 cm du bord, une cuill\u00e8re \u00e0 soupe de d\u00e9tergent \u00e0 vaisselle et \u00e0 secouer le bocal. Apr\u00e8s avoir pos\u00e9 le bocal sur une surface plane, au bout d&rsquo;une minute, la partie sableuse de l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon se d\u00e9posera au fond, suivie du limon au bout d&rsquo;environ 2 heures et de l&rsquo;argile au bout de 48 heures, laissant de l&rsquo;eau claire une fois que tous les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s. On peut alors mesurer la hauteur de chaque composant et calculer le pourcentage de chaque composant dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon, ce qui donne la texture du sol de l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon (Jeffers, 2022).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un test en laboratoire de l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon avec des protocoles plus avanc\u00e9s peut \u00e9galement donner un r\u00e9sultat plus pr\u00e9cis.<\/p><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">STRUCTURE DU SOL<\/h3><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La structure du sol refl\u00e8te la fa\u00e7on dont les composants de la texture du sol (sable, argile, limon) sont dispos\u00e9s ensemble pour former des agr\u00e9gats (Queensland Government, 2013).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La structure du sol a un impact sur la mani\u00e8re dont l&rsquo;eau et l&rsquo;air peuvent se d\u00e9placer et s&rsquo;\u00e9couler dans le sol. Une mauvaise structure du sol entra\u00eenera une baisse de sa fertilit\u00e9, du drainage et de la stabilit\u00e9 du sol. En outre, un sol mal structur\u00e9 peut entra\u00eener un ruissellement et peut \u00eatre tellement compact\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il est impossible pour les plantes de former des racines pr\u00e9coces et de survivre (Swarmhub, 2017).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La structure du sol peut se d\u00e9t\u00e9riorer en cas de compactage, d&rsquo;exc\u00e8s de sodium, d&rsquo;\u00e9limination de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, de culture, de criblage ou de d\u00e9placement ou de manipulation excessifs du sol (Shanstrom, 2023).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L&rsquo;am\u00e9lioration de la structure du sol peut se faire en \u00e9vitant de travailler sur des sols humides pour \u00e9viter le compactage, en r\u00e9duisant les d\u00e9placements inutiles dans le champ, en r\u00e9duisant le travail du sol et le poids de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement, en faisant tourner les cultures ou en utilisant le p\u00e2turage en rotation pour \u00e9viter de compacter et d&rsquo;\u00e9puiser le sol de ses nutriments, en augmentant la quantit\u00e9 de mati\u00e8re organique dans la couche arable, en plantant des cultures de couverture et des plantes \u00e0 enracinement profond telles que le ray-grass annuel ou le tr\u00e8fle (Farm Progress, 2023). L&rsquo;ajout de sable aux sols argileux peut \u00e9galement contribuer \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la structure de ces derniers.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le labour peut \u00e9galement aider \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la structure du sol en brisant la surface du sol et en fournissant un excellent lit pour les semences, cependant, un labour excessif peut avoir l&rsquo;effet inverse et d\u00e9truire la structure du sol&#8230; C&rsquo;est pourquoi le labour peut \u00eatre bon lors du r\u00e9ensemencement d&rsquo;un nouveau p\u00e2turage (Farrington Oils, 2019), puis le hersage peut \u00eatre effectu\u00e9, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9pandu du fumier compost\u00e9 ou une autre mati\u00e8re organique pour aider \u00e0 a\u00e9rer le sol et \u00e0 m\u00e9langer la mati\u00e8re organique dans la couche arable.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chaque texture de sol peut avoir une fa\u00e7on sp\u00e9cifique et plus pr\u00e9cise d&rsquo;aider \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer sa structure, ce qui reste vrai pour tous et chacun des sols est d&rsquo;\u00e9viter de travailler sur des sols humides, d&rsquo;\u00e9viter le compactage et d&rsquo;augmenter la mati\u00e8re organique du sol sont d&rsquo;excellents moyens d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la structure du sol.<\/p><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GESTION DES SOLS<\/h3><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En fonction du type et de la texture du sol, diff\u00e9rentes esp\u00e8ces de gramin\u00e9es seront capables de prosp\u00e9rer (ou non) dans ce sol.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Par exemple, les sols sablonneux accueilleront mieux les gramin\u00e9es telles que les f\u00e9tuques (f\u00e9tuque fine, f\u00e9tuque ovine, f\u00e9tuque \u00e0 queue de gazon) ou le bermudagrass, le zoysia ou le bahiagrass, car ils sont plus tol\u00e9rants aux sols sablonneux gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leurs racines profondes et \u00e0 leur moindre besoin en eau (Christensen, 2022).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les sols argileux sont probl\u00e9matiques car ils ont tendance \u00e0 \u00eatre tr\u00e8s compacts et donc difficiles \u00e0 enraciner pour les plantes. Les gramin\u00e9es comme la f\u00e9tuque \u00e9lev\u00e9e ou l&rsquo;herbe de buffle pourront s&rsquo;enraciner dans les sols argileux (Christensen, 2022).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les sols limoneux sont les meilleurs car ils se drainent bien, tout en conservant suffisamment d&rsquo;humidit\u00e9. Ils ont tendance \u00e0 avoir une bonne fertilit\u00e9 et peuvent convenir \u00e0 la plupart des gramin\u00e9es (Christensen, 2022).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La gestion du sol a \u00e9galement une grande influence sur le d\u00e9veloppement de la prairie.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drainer les sols ou am\u00e9liorer leurs structures en y ajoutant de la mati\u00e8re organique et en l&rsquo;a\u00e9rant aide les gramin\u00e9es \u00e0 prosp\u00e9rer et \u00e0 pousser.
